National Unity Day: A day which reminds us to stay together by forgetting all the differences

In India, there are different cultures, castes, creed and languages but all the people despite having so much of differences stay together in one country. This is what we call unity in diversity. The thought of unity in diversity has been prevalent in our country since olden times. However, today we find that people argue on small issues like caste, religion and gender and ultimately create a line of big difference among each other. This ultimately leads to the making of small groups of people who keep on pulling each other's legs over petty issues and ultimately make it a national issue.  Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is a stark reminder to all that we are equal in the eyes of law and nation and should live with each other in peace and harmony so that we can make the country progress together with our collective efforts.

Republic TV vs. Mumbai Police: The fight continues with more people joining the cause

Republic TV along with many other channels is under scanner for generating fake TRPs by giving money to people to watch their channel. Their recent coverage on Sushant Singh Rajput made people empathize with them and support them. It is very difficult to know and understand whether the news items and articles being circulated are true or not but what I have learnt after hearing the news is that the level of journalism has touched a new low.  Most of the news channels just for raising their TRPs try to publish whatever news they can so that they get the maximum number of viewers even if the news is fake or irrelevant. Even if this case is fake then still I believe that news channels should do responsible reporting. By responsible reporting, I mean that the channels should give equal emphasis on all the major and important happenings around the world and not focus on only one issue and keep on dragging and stretching it more and more.

How Delhi pollution affects one and all residing in the city

Pollution is one of the major problems faced by India in recent times. The pollution level of Delhi was completely low during the lockdown and as the lockdown opened the pollution level increased yet again. The increase in pollution levels of the city has made the condition of the city really pathetic.  People have to literally struggle on daily basis to get pollution free and clean air. Despite taking so many measures like metro and others the pollution and smog levels in Delhi are on rise and will continue so if they are not checked on time. If we want to make Delhi a healthy and clean city all the citizens of the city need to make use of fuel which causes less pollution and give more environmental sustainability for the survival of mankind. If possible, try to use fewer vehicles and opt for metro and other eco-friendly fuel vehicles so that unnecessary smog is not created in the environment.

World Day for Audiovisual Heritage: A day for preserving all the audio transcripts of olden times

There was a time when we loved listening to recording on tapes and gramophones. Those times have now been completely forgotten as the tapes and recorders have been replaced by YouTube and the Internet and people can access everything whether audio or visual by using the latest technology.  As time progressed, people forgot about tapes but still, we find many people who love listening to radio, tapes and gramophones. World Day for Audiovisual Heritage is celebrated mainly to preserve all the audio transcription and recordings which can be converted into video in near future for future generations.  So, on this World Day for Audiovisual Heritage let us do whatever we can to preserve the rich transcription recordings and heritage we have with us so that we become enriched from both heart and mind.

International Animation Day: A day which made our favourite cartoon characters come alive

All of us whether young or old love watching cartoons and see the characters we love moving, talking and interacting with others. The end result is great and worthwhile but did you know that all this is possible only due to animation.  Animation is an art form which gives life to the non-living and makes them behave like a normal being. Many people are involved in the animation field to give us some of the best audio-visual films we love to watch even after growing up.  International Animation Day is celebrated to commemorate all the artists who are behind this beautiful art form and encourages them to entertain people more and more with their craft and design. Let us celebrate International Animation Day by supporting the work of all the animators through their films and other art forms.

United Nations Day: A day when a Global Organization binding the world came into existence

It was on October 24, 1945, that the United Nations Organization came into existence and since then it has worked on a global level to ensure that the world is a peaceful place to reside in with its various plans and policies.  Most of the developed and developing countries are a part of the United Nations Organization and attend seminars, discussions and debates organized by the agency. It is an international official holiday for all nations across the world.  The day is celebrated through discussions, meetings and exhibitions across various countries and there are celebrations held in India as well. Each and every country celebrates the day in a different manner and style. In some countries, it is an official holiday while in another country it is a semester break for students.  Along with United Nations Day, the day is also celebrated as World Development Information Day which is celebrated by conducting quizzes, elocutions and discussions across the world.

International Internet Day: A Boon in Disguise for the World

In modern times, the internet has grown to become one of the utmost necessities of mankind. Without internet, we cannot think of our life today. Whether it is entertainment or work, we need a good internet connection for carrying out all the daily activities.  The day is celebrated in order to remember the first telecom message transferred from one computer to another in 1969 in USA, California. Before internet came into vogue, surfing on search engines like Google was not easy for all. It required great amount of efforts to surf the net in olden times.  The transfer of data now takes place through packet switching by using the Internet Protocol or IP. On one hand, Internet has made life easy for all whereas on the other hand, it has given rise to many online criminal activities like frauds and hacking. Inetrnet is actually a double-edged sword. The use and misuse of a technology completely depends on the person using the technology.

International Artists Day: A day to honour and motivate artists all over the world

International Artists Day is celebrated every year on October 25 to honour the contributions made by different artists across the world. The day is very popular and has become a cult from the last few years.  The day is not only restricted to painters but also covers musicians, writers, digital arts and everything which involves a creative bend of mind and innovation from an individual's end.  The day marks the birth anniversary of Pablo Picasso who was a famous Spanish painter. The creative director and founder of this day is Chris MacClure. He is a Canadian Romantic Realist Artist who has worked hard to become one of the reputed artists of Canada. His paintings are neither very crafty nor fancy. The day gives a voice to all the artists who live in our society and contribute to make it more beautiful than ever. The best way to celebrate International Artists Day is to help and support those artists whom we know and who are living around us.

International Mole Day: A day of pride for those who love Chemistry

International Mole Day is actually an unofficial holiday for all the chemistry students, chemists and all those who are interested in chemistry in any manner. Mole Day is actually derived from an article in The Science Teacher in early 1980s. The article then inspired Maurice Oehler who is a retired high school chemistry teacher from Wisconsin to lay the foundation of an institute called National Mole Day Foundation or NMDF on May 15,1991.  Mole Day is a very important day of National Chemistry Week which is organized by the American Chemical Society every year. I wish all the people interested in chemistry a very Happy International Mole Day and wish that the knowledge of chemistry is used for positive progress of the world.

Make yourself aware about Osteoporosis on World Osteoporosis Day

Osteoporosis is a condition where the bones start becoming weak and fragile which makes them break easily even if there is a bump, sneeze, minor fall or a quick movement. The fractures caused by the condition can be long-life, threatening and may result in disability of a person.  Some of the ways which can help you in preventing osteoporosis condition in future are regular exercising, avoiding smoking and drinking and having a rich intake of calcium, protein and Vitamin D.  In case you have a previous fracture or something which affects the bone health you should consult a doctor so that the condition can be stopped without any further spread.  Osteoporosis Day is celebrated to make people aware of symptoms, diagnosis and prevention of the disease. It is very important to take care of your health and being aware of osteoporosis can help you in the prevention of future problems to your body.

Why female centric movies are made very less in Indian Cinema?

Females are the part and parcel of society as are males. They have full right to live their lives in their ways without any kind of interference. Despite that, we find many men thinking that females are their doormats and can be tamed in whatever way they want.  Even in Indian cinema, there are many fewer films made on women and their independent lives. We find that even if these female-centric movies are made in India only a few movies appeal people and critics otherwise every other movie based on women is meant to be thrown in trash according to them.  I do not understand the fact that if women are progressing in society very well then why don't we make films based on them because everybody knows a film is made keeping in mind the current trends of society and people.  According to me, Indian cinema should start bringing males and females on an equal scale so that we can respect them, love them and give them a unique identity.

International Poverty Eradication Day : A Day to make the world free from poor

Poverty has been one of the biggest problems faced all over the world. There are many people who do not get to eat proper food or drink pure water. A nation which has more amount of poor residing cannot progress to great degrees.  There are many poverty eradication programs initiated by government of different countries to ensure that the standard of living of a poor can rise. However, we still find that the problem remains the same. People are still stuck where they started and cannot change their living conditions.  On this International Poverty Eradication Day, I would like to request all the people across the world even if they are not the policy makers to help the poor to rise by donating amounts in different organizations so that everybody can walk equally.

World Food Day : A Harsh Reminder of those who Sleep Hungry

As we all know, food and water are very much necessary for the survival of a living being. Without both, a person can become weak, feeble and ultimately die. Good food helps us in gaining energy for carrying out daily activities.  There are many people in this world even today who do not get to eat proper food and become malnourished. On the other hand, we find food being wasted in marriages and other ceremonies. There are many children living in cities who do not eat food and waste them.  It is important for parents to teach their children to not waste food and eat everything. This is because there are many people around the world who do not get to eat food. There are many NGOs who provide food by accepting donations of various amounts across the world.  I would request everyone to donate as much amount you can to these organizations so that more and more people sleep without hungry stomach and happily remember you as the one who filled their stomach.

Keep Yourself Healthy and Hygenic on Global Handwashing Day

As we all know that health and hygiene is one of the most important steps for a long life. People who ignore their health or do not take care of proper hygiene can fall ill and slowly their health starts deteriorating.  Handwashing as a habit became regular when COVID 19 spread all over the world. People became more aware of their hygiene and practised a healthy habit of washing hands even when they were in their homes or came home after buying essential commodities.  Handwashing is a healthy habit as it removes all kind of germs from your hands and you can eat and drink whatever you want after washing your hands. On Global Handwashing Day, let us take a pledge to wash our hands whenever required so that we can lead a healthy and happy lifestyle.

Gain Awareness on Man Made and Natural Calamities on United Nations World Calamity Control Day

Calamities whether man-made or natural cause a lot of damage and harm to livelihood and brings life to a standstill temporarily. It brings a lot of harm and damage and if not controlled in time it can take many more lives and cause harm to different sectors of the country.  United Nations World Calamity Control Day is celebrated in order to make more and more people and organizations aware about all the natural and man-made calamities occurring all around the world and measures through which they can be stopped effectively.  The day makes people aware of how they can protect themselves from a calamity so that their lifestyle can be improved. Recently, we have seen how COVID 19 brought the life of the people to a standstill and there are still vaccines being prepared for fighting the virus. Let us hope that the vaccine comes out soon so that lives can be saved and people can move out of their houses freely without having to worry about anything.

How Far is it Right for Indian Cinema to glorify Women as Objects before Audience?

We all might have witnessed Indian cinema has time and again taken pride in the fact that they can objectify women like none another medium of viewing. Time and again males have been reminded that a girl wearing a short dress is meant to woo them. Let me clear you the fact here that a girl can woo a boy through salwar kameez and sari also and there is no need for them to wear a short dress and secondly, the seduction shown should be in a positive light and not something like we saw in Darr that the guy can kill himself or someone else just for the girl. Forcing a girl to love you or taking revenge from her for not loving you back is not something a sane person would do. If someone does not love you, it is better to move on rather than holding on to them and becoming a psychopath in the process.  Filmmakers should understand the fact that people do not want to hear Munni Badnam Hui from them. Why only Munni gets badnam why not Munna? Why don't we reverse the roles of men and women o...

International Day of Girl Child : High Time to Stop Atrocities on Girls

We all have heard this, especially in India that the country is not a safe place for girls. Have we ever thought why is that the case? Why only India is said to be so and other countries are safer? Let me answer this question for you. This is because we are spoonfed that girls are week, feeble and cannot do great things in life. A country where goddesses are worshipped is also the country where girls are raped, murdered, killed or burnt. The dual mentality of people is difficult to understand. They don't realize the harm they are causing to a girl's family.  To all the boys out there, do understand that girls are not dressing up to impress you. They have their choice of dressing and similarly, you have a choice of respecting all the females even if they are escorts because escorts either choose the profession due to circumstances or willingly.  Coming to girls, we see that even girls are not spared from a crime like rape or being killed before birth. Despite so many campaigns,...

World Mental Health Day : Why Mental Health is Equally Important as Physical Health

We often suffer from mental problems at one point or another but try to hide it from people as everybody thinks that you are mad and they take you to a psychiatrist. In India, mental health is considered that a person has gone crazy and not in his senses.  It is very difficult for people to accept that mental health is as important as physical health and its untimely treatment can lead to further deterioration in the condition of a person. A person might not turn crazy in case of mental health but his body might not support him to make sound decisions.  People should stop taking mental health as a sign of a person's weakness and rather support them, motivate them and make them healthy in whatever way they can. A doctor should be consulted only if the condition worsens and does not improve.  On this World Mental Health Day, let us try to understand different types of mental health conditions and how they can be cured for a healthy and effective lifestyle of an individual....

World Postal Day: The day when handwritten letters started getting posted

Most of us might have written letters to our loved ones or even today we love writing letters rather e-mails or any other form of communication. There has been a time when people wrote letters and waited for them to reach the person concerned so that they understand the feelings behind those letters.  As technology advanced, communication became fast and quick through e-mails and people actually forgot how to write letters. World Postal Day celebrates the establishment of Universal Postal Union in Switzerland in 1874 which had enabled people to write letters for the first time.  World Postal Day celebrates the love of letters which people had and even today few people love writing letters. Let us celebrate this day by writing out our heartfelt feelings to those we love even it is in online form.

Indian Air Force Day : A Salute to those who Ensure Our Safe Journey in the Skies

Most of us might have travelled in planes or dreamt to be in aur force as an air host/hostess or pilot or whatever duties we can perform for the country and IAF. IAF has always been a pride of India as we have fought many battles with foreign countries and won many of them showing that we can fight when the need arises.  The country has advanced technology in terms of planes and a good number of trained male and female pilots who steer the plane and take us to the skies. There have been many job opportunities generated for people by IAF where they can prove their love for the country. IAF is a pride of Indian skies and it gives us the ultimate pleasure when we see fighter planes or any plane hovering past our homes. On this Indian Air Force Day, I would like to salute all those who have fought for their countries and ensures a safer sky for all.

German-American Day - A Cross-Culture Celebration of both the Countries

Germany and the United States of America are well-developed and progressive countries. Both have rich cultures, traditions and heritage. German-American Day is a holiday in the United States and marks the foundation of Germantown and celebrates the heritage of both America and Germany.  The German American Day is celebrated to honour the German culture and immigration to United States. The people of the US were exposed to an all new culture when Germans brought in their culture and they got to learn a nlot many new things.  The day is celebrated with great pomp and show and marks a memorable day for both the countries. On this German American Day, I extend my heartfelt wishes to both the countries hoping that they continue their bond.

World Teacher's Day: A pride for teachers all over the world

After parents, teachers are considered to be the third building block in a child's life. Parents can teach you all the worldly knowledge but we get all the bookish knowledge from teachers. Teachers are an essential part of society to progress. Without teachers, the world tends to become a boring and monotonous place.  Teachers are those individuals who bring light in a child's life and give them a direction to proceed further in life. We all know that COVID 19 was the toughest phase of one's life as people have been confined to their homes and everything was going online.  The teachers who are used to taking online classes were quite fine with it but those who did not know how to operate computers faced quite a lot of problems. However, the teachers overcame everything. They prepared notes and material for the content to be taught. We heard about many children who were abusing their teachers if they did not know how to teach properly or just for the fun of it. I believe tha...

Work for the Betterment of Animals on World Animal Welfare Day

Though animals can not talk like human beings, they have feelings and emotions just like all human beings. They understand both love and hatred and react to the situation accordingly. I believe that if you cannot do good to animals at least do not harm them or kill them for pleasure or otherwise.  World Animal Welfare Day reminds us that we should do whatever we can to preserve the animals to the best of our capacity. Many organizations are tirelessly working towards saving them, rescuing them, feeding them and putting them up for adoption in case someone needs them. On World Animal Welfare Day, let us come together to help the voiceless and stand up for them so that they also get a safe and secure home like us.

German Unity Day: A Pride for those living in Germany

Everyone in this world wants to be independent and free without any kind of interference from outside. Similarly, German Unity Day is celebrated to commemorate the reunification different German republics to form a single state.  The day is a national holiday in the country and it is celebrated by fireworks, festivals and ceremonies. It is a big day for people and gives them immense pleasure and satisfaction as they feel free and liberated.  Thus, on German Unity Day I would like to wish each and every citizen of Germany a very happy Unity Day and hoping that the country prosperes each day.

Practice Peace on International Non-Violence Day

Peace and non-violence is a solution to most of the problems in our life as well as the country. It has been widely practised by India. There have been many situations the world has faced and the ultimate solution to the situation was non-violence. If we practice non-violence in our regular life, we can prevent getting embarrassed from various situations which occur in our daily life. There have been many instances in history or otherwise where people have benefitted a lot by practising non-violence.  Thus, on International Day of Non-Violence let us spread peace and brotherhood all over the world and pledge that we will not fight with anyone based on caste, creed or colour as we all live on one planet and the world will prosper if it is a more peaceful and less gruesome place.

Celebrate the pride of being a Vegetarian on World Vegetarian Day

There are many people, especially in India who call vegetarians as those who eat ghaas phoos. However, that is not true. It is not that vegetarians eat ghas phoos. They eat green vegetables and other nutritious food for survival.  Considering vegetarians to be weak and frail is very wrong. It is a healthy way of living which emphasizes on eating a healthy and balanced diet without having any side effects or disease.  According to me, cutting animals and eating them for pleasure is very wrong as they are also living beings who feel pain and everything else like a normal human being. Thus, on this World Vegetarian Day let us pledge to practice a healthy by becoming vegetarian.
