Most of us have read about William Wordsworth in school, college and elsewhere. I am not here to discuss the biography of the poet as it has been described in various articles and books. I am here to give an insight into his personal life, which was not a very rosy one.
Wordsworth was a poet who wrote in an era called Romanticism. The poems and everything written in that era were relaxing and comforting. However, the political uproar led to great unrest among people as French Revolution started taking an aggressive form.
Wordsworth continued with the peaceful poems when his wife and child were stuck in France. Although his heart was in a tumultuous phase, he did not let that come into his poems. He continued as usual with his small and sweet writings.
People got to know about his unrest when he wrote The Prelude where he described his personal life in detail. Wordsworth has given us many beautiful poems despite the fact that his life was full of tensions and worries.
