The main objective behind celebrating World Thalassemia Day is to remember the struggles of people suffering from this genetic disease and raise awareness about the disease and its symptoms.
This observance also appreciates the doctor's efforts, as well as all other medical staff who are solely dedicated to improving a patient's lifestyle and scientists, who bring new advancements to remove this disease.
Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder that is passed down from parents to children. The disease reduces haemoglobin count in the body and directly affects red blood cells. The extremity of the disease depends upon the Thalassemia type.
There are high chances of children having the disease if it is present in both the parents. To raise awareness about the disease, its symptoms and causes the day is observed.
The campaign spread worldwide has a major aim to raise awareness among the youth to consult a doctor before having a child so that the disease can be stopped from spreading further. It also removes all kinds of false news spread about the disease and pays importance to the vaccination.
