5th May has been officially established in 2019 by the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries as Portuguese language Day. The organization is an intergovernmental one that has an official partnership with UNESCO since 2000.
It brings together people with the Portuguese language so that they can identify with their special identity and celebrate Lusophone and Portuguese language cultures. The Portuguese language is a widespread language across the world with more than 265 million speakers throughout the continent.
It is a widely spoken language in the southern hemisphere. It is a major language of international communication and a language that has a strong geographical projection which will increase in the near future.
The day helps in increasing and encouraging the multilingual languages spoken across the world and also help us know more and understand the Portuguese language.
