World Asthma Day: A day to prevent yourself from this breathing disease

Asthma is a breathing disease that directly affects the lungs. It can be caused due to pollution, smoking and some other factors as well. The day is organized by Global Initiative for Asthma or GINA, an organization that collaborated with World Health Organization in 1993.

There are more than 339 million people who have Asthma globally and around 417,918 people died due to asthma in 2016. Although asthma cannot be cured it can be reduced and prevented to a great level.

There are many myths surrounding asthma like it is infectious, it is a childhood disease, people suffering from asthma should not exercise and it cannot be controlled only by consuming high steroids. The truth is that asthma can occur at any age and it is not infectious.

If asthma is in control, people having asthma can exercise. Asthma can be cured with low inhalable steroids. On this day, we can read and understand more about asthma and help our loved ones in overcoming the disease in case someone is suffering from asthma in the family.
