World Consumer Rights Day: A day to make consumers aware of their rights and implement them well

The main objective behind celebrating World Consumer Rights Day is to raise awareness across the world about consumer needs and rights. The celebration of this day is a golden opportunity to demand that the rights of all the customers should be protected and respected.

The day can also be used to raise a protest against social injustices and market abuses that underplay these rights. The day was inspired by President John F Kennedy who sent a special message on 15th March 1962 to US Congress. In his message, he addressed the issue of consumer rights.

He was perhaps the first global leader to do so. The consumer movement marked that date for the first time in 1983 and now that day is utilized every year to take action on important campaigns and issues.
