International Day of Action for Rivers: A day to understand the significance and importance of rivers
Rivers form a very important part of human life. This is because they help us to survive as our body constitutes 75% of water. If we talk about India, we see that despite considering rivers to be a form of gods and goddesses we still do all the miscellaneous activities and dump all the wastes in the rivers which leads to river pollution.
The Indian Government has taken measures to clean up the rivers through its various schemes and plans but they all will be unsuccessful if we ourselves are not aware of the implications of river pollution and take responsibility for cleaning up the rivers.
On International Day of Action for Rivers, people across the world need to take responsibility for cleaning up the rivers in order to create a balance of flora and fauna as well as the environment.
