World Scout Day is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of its founder Robert Baden Powell. His grave in Kenya is a pilgrimage site for all the scouts. Baden Powell rewrote Aids to Scouting for the younger generation.
He took few boys with him to try out the scouting skills which ultimately came out in the form of a handbook Scouting for Boys. The scouting groups slowly grew in the British Commonwealth and it consisted of boys only.
Girl scouts were made much later. On this day, one can learn more about scouting and what exactly does a scout do. There have been many books, texts and references which can help you in enriching your knowledge about scouting.
