National De Worming Day is celebrated to remove intestinal worms which are commonly known as Soil-Transmitted Helminths. These worms are commonly found in children and these parasites live in intestines and consume all the nutrients that toddler consumes.
The worms feed on the physical body and lay many eggs every year in the body. The day was celebrated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to deworm children across the country and it is celebrated on February 10 and August 10 every year to vaccinate children against the worms.
On this day, one can vaccinate their child against these worms and learn more about them by visiting hospitals and medical centres to prevent further infection of others because of the worms.
