Martyrs' Day: A day to honour all the bravehearts of India

The main reason behind celebrating Martyrs Day is to honor those martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom of the country. It is a day that is celebrated on the national level. It marks the assassination of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi by Nathuram Godse.

All the dignitaries of the country including the Prime Minister, President, Vice President, Defense Minister and all three service Cheifs gather at Raj Ghat and pay their homages to Gandhiji.

The inter-services contingent reverse their arms to show respect and the armed forces personnel blow bugles for the Last Post. People sing religious prayers and tributes on this day and a two-minute silence is observed throughout the country at 11 am.

Malaika Arora's father commits suicide, investigation continues

In a shocking turn of events, actor Malaika Arora's father Anil Arora has committed suicide. He jumped from his apartment building in Bandra around 9 in the morning. Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor and Ananya Panday have also visited her residence for the last rites. Malaika Arora's ex-husband, Arbaaz Khan, also visited her with brother Sohail, sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and parents Salim and Salma Khan. Malaika and Arbaaz separated in 2017 but continued to co-parent Arhaan, their son. The police are still investigating the cause of death. Malaika's parents got divorced during her childhood. The reason for the suicide remains unclear as no suicide note has been recovered and the body has been sent for post-mortem. Malaika was not in Mumbai when the news of the suicide came out. She rushed back from Pune after hearing the news.
