National Mathematics Day is celbarted every year on December 22 by the Indian Government. It was announced by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Madras University to mark 125th anniversary of the mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan.
Singh also declared that 2012 would be celebrated as National Mathematics Year. The day is celebrated through various educational events held in different schools and universities throughout the country.
In 2017, Ramanujan Math Park was opened in Kuppam, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh to enhance the importance of the day. The day is actually very important for all the mathematicians across the country.
