National Pepper Pot Day: A dish that won the war

National Pepper Pot Day is celebrated to remember the dish that was nicknamed as the soup which won the war. The day is marked annually on December 29. There was a very terrible and ruthless cold in 1777-1778.  The Continental Army was fighting for the newly formed United States of America during the Revolutionary War.
