Murder Meri Jaan: A series which offers nothing new when it comes to murder mystery

CID one of the longest runnings serials on Indian television always kept us glued to the screens as to who murdered the person and why. The concept of Murder Meri Jaan is a bit similar to CID except for the fact that here is a policeman is married to a criminal. Both husband and wife search for criminals and the wife being a criminal herself can easily analyze what is going on in the mind of another criminal who is committing the act. Both of them keep on arguing with each other over petty matters but still love each other.  The series has a very repetitive idea and the episodes are stretched to such a level that they start feeling boring after a point of time. The series offers nothing new in terms of content and can be conveniently skipped from your must-watch list.

Happy Hour: A series which digs in a repititive idea

What will happen when you suddenly wake up one day and realize that you have become a millionaire? Either you will grudge or you will be happy beyond measure. There is somewhat mixed reaction of four friends who receive a bar in inheritance after the owner dies.  The bar is not left to the owner's son but to them. This makes the son jealous and he tries every tactic to snatch away the bar from them but that does not happen. They start making profits which irks Rodney and he leaves them alone.  They are stuck in another situation after he lives wherein a don asks them to pay a hefty amount of 50 lacs. The series becomes boring after a point of time and there is nothing happy about Happy Hour. The series can be conveniently skipped even if you do not have anything to kill your time as it keeps going on and on and God knows in which direction.

Ray: A series which is painfully long and monotonous

It is very interesting when a noted filmmaker and writer stories are presented before the public to commemorate his style of filmmaking. The adaptations if not made to the mark can lead to criticism and lynching. Ray is the latest anthology on Netflix which adapts Satyajit Ray's stories. Though I have never watched Ray's movies or read his stories I can say that this is not an adaptation that even Satyajit Rai would have appreciated. The stories keep on stretching themselves on and on and it is a painful experience to watch the series.  There is no doubt that the cast and crew have done a wonderful job in the series but there is a problem with the adaptation. The series could have been better if the stories had a shorter duration.  Some of my favourite actors in the series have like Kay Kay Menon, Bidita Bag, Manoj Bajpayee, Gajraj Rao and  Radhika Madan have given good performances. Regarding others, some shine while others lose themselves in the crowd.  You can wat...

Grahan: A series which takes us through various emotions

Emotions are something that makes us an individual. Without them, we are incomplete. Grahan is a series on Hotstar which takes us through various emotions of love, pain, hurt, betrayal and regret among others.  The series is inspired by the novel Chaurasi written by Satya Vyas. It has both past and present references. On one hand, it shows the past in which a beautiful love story blossoms and on the other hand it shows the present situation where there is chaos everywhere.  The series shows the real truth of 86 riots and brings to light that not all riots have an objective of spreading violence. Some riots are done keeping in mind the fewer people get hurt. Love is an overpowering emotion in the series as we see the love of a couple in past and father and daughter love in present. The cast, crew and everybody have done a great job in bringing out a beautiful web series in front of the audience. It makes you laugh and cry at the same time and it can prove to be one of the binge...

Gumrah: A revamped series which holds relevance even today

Youth is a period where teens can get manipulated if they are not guided in a proper direction. Whatever is done by them may be a mistake but this mistake can ruin their whole life. It has become very important for today's youth to take care of themselves so that they do not get manipulated.  Gumrah was a series that was released long back and it has been revamped and presented on Hotstar Quix. The series is relevant not only in olden times but also in modern times. It shows different stories about youth can take wrong steps if they fall into the wrong hands. The series is a very interesting watch and it has great content. The story is great and one can watch this series not out of fear but out of caution so that nothing of that sort happens with them in the near future.

Sherni: A good movie which starts feeling stretchy after a point of time

Female oriented movies have always been appreciated and welcomed in Indian cinema. However, the number of female-oriented films is way less than other films being made today. Sherni is one such film that is based on the life of a female forest officer. The movie mainly focuses on a tigress who is roaming around freely and is searching for a place to settle. In this process, she kills many people and a lady officer investigates the case. The officer played by Vidya Balan wants to catch that tigress alive and release her in a national park. However, the other people have different agendas and the tigress is ultimately shot down only to fulfil the political motives of people. Her cubs are also said to be harmful and people want to kill those innocent souls as well.  The villagers come to the rescue of the cubs and hide them safely and the information is given only to the female officer who was interested in saving the tigress and her cubs. The officer is ultimately transferred because...

Bamini and Boys: A series with a very repititive idea

An adrenaline rush is common in boys when they see a hot and sexy female. They start thinking of her as a lover in their dreams and want to make her happy at any cost. Bamini and Boys is a series that has the same old repetitive idea of three bachelors attracted by their divorced landlady and they try to woo her at all costs. However, we see that the landlady is smart enough to understand the mentality of the boys and she always gets out of the situation and keeps hanging all of them. Two boys get into a relationship but still, they try to impress Bamini at all costs.  The series feels a bit stretchy and monotonous as it has the same old repetitive idea of boys falling for an older woman and there is nothing new the series has to offer. You can watch the series only if you are unable to pass your time.

Bhopal to Vegas : A series with an unusual business start up idea

Everybody dreams of having a start-up these days. Bhopal to Vegas is a humorous take on one of the unusual business ideas which perhaps becomes one of its kind. Two friends start a company along with a staunch opposer of the idea. The idea of their startup is to organize a bachelor party and give a Vegas feeling to all the people of Bhopal who are going to get married. There is always a group who is after them to close their company and somehow they manage to conduct three to four parties within a month.  In the end, we see the leader of the group demands a luxurious destination bachelor party which gives them name and fame and their idea ultimately takes off a great flight. The performances of all the actors are praiseworthy and the series is a great entertainer.

The Hunt: A revamped short series which is a great watch

A soldier always protects his country from outer enemies and happily lays down his life for the same. But what happens when the danger comes knocking at their doors? How do they deal with the situation? This is what we get to see in The Hunt. The Hunt is a series that has been set according to the short format series for Disney Hotstar and it has already become a sensation among the audiences. The series has been directed by some seasoned directors and the cast displays the emotions very well. The series is a much watch for the weekend as it has enough twists and turns to give you goosebumps every time you witness it. So what are you waiting for? Go and watch The Hunt series today.

Karan Mehra and Nisha Rawal: Was it fair for them to fight in public

Every marriage whether it is love or arranged has many kinds of problems. Marriage is never a rosy path and husband and wife always have differences at one point or another. But when these arguments are done in public things get worse than normal.  In the case of Karan Mehra and Nisha Rawal, who is a famous TV couple fought in public and everybody was left in shock. Everybody who thought that they were a cute and ideal couple broke off their myth and started supporting either Karan or Nisha.   Even the TV industry started taking sides and fought with each other over this issue. I do not know what was the entire matter and what they are up to now but the way their story took a turn was very unexpected.  As a couple, you might have many differences but it is not a great idea to discuss them in public as both the individuals will blame each other for the situation and nothing conclusive can be derived out of the same.

Six: A thriller murder mystery which is very gripping

Many murder mysteries have been made and liked by audiences due to their gripping plot. Six is one of those series that is available on Hotstar and is one of the thrilling series which follows the story of a businessman's murder. At first, we see that the investigating officer interviews all the six women who were close to the murderer making us suspect that they are the criminals but we find a very big twist in the end. The series shows how a stifling marriage can lead to committing a crime. The series is very good and can prove to be an ideal binge watch for the weekend as it will keep you glued to your screens till the end. So what are you waiting for? Go and watch the series now and today.

Mukesh Jasoos: A series which falls flat on its face

All of us are fans of old detective serials and movies and Mukesh Jasoos tries to bring in the flavour of the same 80s and 90s detective serials which we used to watch with enthusiasm. However, the series after a few episodes falls flat on its face.  Despite a good cast, the writing fails the series. The series starts feeling chaotic after a point of time as a lot of things are going on in the series and we are unable to understand where the main plot is heading to.  The series makes itself a failure after a point of time and despite so many comic strips, there is no laughter in the series. You can watch this series only for passing the time otherwise it can be conveniently skipped from your must-watch list.

Crime Next Door: A series which has many twists and turns to keep you engaged

We have witnessed many series in the past where crime happens and the killer needs to be detected. Crime Next Door is a Hotstar Quix Series where we witness different crimes and how the killer is found out ultimately.  All the cases look simple and clear on the surface but as we dig deeper the realization dawns that there is more to what actually meets the eye. The crimes committed are not very simple and when they come to light we see the real faces of criminals.  The series is very enagaging and keeps you guessing as to what will happen in the next episode. The series is a must watch if you are someone who loves to watch crime mysteries and is good in catching clues.

Loki: A Marvel series which shows us the story of a villian cum hero

Loki has always been considered as a villain as he took away Tesseract from Avengers and always became an obstruction in each and every movie. The new Marvel series Loki which is available in multiple languages depicts what happens after Loki disappears in the Endgame movie.  The series is nothing like the movie and shows the story of a person who looks more like a hero than a villain. His unexplored side is witnessed by the audience and right now the audiences can watch the weekly episodes on Disney Hotstar.  The cast is fabulous and the acting is great. After watching the first episode, I can easily say that this series is going to be a binge-watch once all the episodes are released.

Skater Girl: A movie which inspires you to fly high

Everyone has big dreams. Many of them cannot fulfil it and others do not let that dream die. This can be seen in the latest Netflix release Skater Girl where we see a rustic girl dreaming big and fulfiling her dreams of skating.  Skater Girl has a backdrop of a small village in Udaipur and shows how a normal rustic girl gets wings after she meets a foreigner who inspires her to do skating. The movie shows that dreams can be realized if you have courage and self-confidence.  There is a skating park that was built during the film and now that park has become the first skating park of Rajasthan and has been opened to all those who want to fulfil their dreams of skating and flying high. This movie shows the importance of dreams and their realization.

Shaadisthan: A movie which shows how traditions and rituals can hold us back

Despite moving on centuries after centuries, many people are stuck with old traditions and rituals. They do not want to break free from old rituals and this ultimately becomes the cause of their stiffness. They think that society should function as it has been functioning.  People fail to realize that change always happens in society. Shaadisthan is an attempt to bring change in society by changing people's mentality. It attacks the males who think the female is their slave.  It attacks rituals that say that a girl should be married as soon as she is eligible. It questions the norms of the society and tries to bring a change through Kirti Kulhari's character. The independence and open-mindedness she has is seen in other characters much later.  If you really want to watch a good cinema, this movie can be watched. Excellent acting and casting make the movie all the more watchable.

Sunflower: A web series which starts feeling monotonous after a point of time

Sunflower is a web series streaming on Zee5 and it has received great reviews. However, after watching the series I personally feel that the series stretches after a point of time and it feels as if the series is going nowhere. The series is single-handedly managed by Sunil Grover as he has done a wonderful job. All the other actors are also good but Sunil Grover stands out of the crowd. He is one of those comedians who knows how to ace a role perfectly whether it is serious, comic or sad.  The series could have been better and it could have had some more twists to it. The writing seems a bit weird and the ending is very bad. The way the series starts it does not end on that note. You can watch the web series only for timepass and nothing else.

Indori Ishq: A remake of Kabir Singh with a twist

After Kabir Singh was released, many people started realising the face of a toxic relationship. A few days back, MX Player released a new web series by the name Indori Ishq. After watching it, I found it quite similar to Kabir Singh with few exceptions.  In this series, we yet again see a guy who falls for a girl who loves sleeping around. He trusts her so blindly that when she tells him that she loves her despite betrayal he falls for it yet again. The guy puts everything at stake for that girl including his career, life and friends. Despite having so many girls around him who love him, he is always thinking of the girl who betrayed him and wants her back in his life. He never truly gets over her and is thinking of ways to break her relationship.  Love when becomes obsession is very dangerous. It can lead you in doing drastic things which you have never imagined and takes you towards the path of destruction. Despite so many warnings from others you are still stuck in the same...

Pearl V Puri Arrest: A publicity stunt or reality

There is no doubt that people can do anything to gain publicity. This stunt is not limited to actors and actresses but it is also an ambition of a common man. Recently, Pearl V Puri was arrested on the grounds of raping a five-year-old kid. However, the actor pleaded not guilty and is ready to prove that he is innocent. Later on, the mother of the child blamed the father for accusing Pearl V Puri of rape and the father of the kid said that my domestic fight has nothing to do with the kid.  The point I want to make here is that why people use their child to gain publicity. They need to understand that the accusations they have put are very serious ones and it is very important to blame someone only after knowing the complete truth.  I am not telling that Pearl is innocent or guilty as it is up to the law to do so but what I want to say here is that people should know the complete truth before putting final blame on someone as it is a very serious accusation.

Kangana Ranaut: A favourite child of controversy

Everyone including Bollywood actors needs to understand that if something is pushed beyond the limits then things can go out of hand. The same case implies with Kangana Ranaut who keeps on twirling herself into controversies every time.  After her affair with Hritik Roshan, it feels her thinking capacity has lessened to a great level. She illogically keeps on targeting people even if they are right on some issues. Recently, the wedding pictures of Yami Gautam were out on social media and Kangana trolled Yami Gautam's co-stars very badly when they wrote on her photos. Her remarks were really out of place and senseless. She really needs to understand that one should speak only when there is a place for them to speak. It is not good to bomb somebody else's posts with your nasty comments.  I do not know what others think about it but what I feel is that she needs to understand the situation and circumstances and only then should she comment.

Chattis aur Maina: A series which is ruled by Vikram Singh Chauhan's acting and looks

Whenever we hear the names like Chattis and Maina it is clear that the story belongs to a small town and it will show us the rawness of love and its implications. Chattis aur Maina is an unusual love story between a girl who is a dancer and a boy whose father is a politician.  Chattis falls for Maina after seeing her beautiful legs and slowly they come into a relationship but they cannot get married as their backgrounds are completely different and Chattis does not have the courage to tell his father that he wants to marry Maina. Slowly, with the help of Maina, Chattis gets the courage and he stands up against his father. The series is streaming on Hotstar and you can watch daily new episodes on the channel.  The series has an excellent cast and the innocence and cuteness of Chattis played by Vikram Singh Chauhan steal your heart. Ye Chattis Mujhe de de Maina I will marry him if you won't.

Vaidehi: One of the best mystery thriller with great cast

Music is something that connects heart and mind. Even if the language is different we can still feel and understand the music. What happens when music is not acceptable to someone and it becomes the cause of destruction? Chaos, confusion, murders and many more things which one might not have even imagined.  Vaidehi brings to you the innermost secrets of everyone and shows how evil things can get if you do not control them in time. The series starts with the disappearance of a police officer's daughter Mithil who wants to sing but her father does not want to.  Even after a leap of five years, the girl is still missing and the father keeps on searching madly for her. Meanwhile, Vaidehi who is called Ida by her friends is a good singer and meets with an accident after her performance as she is hit by a truck while driving on the road.  The series dives deep into the investigation of Vaidehi's murder and opens up many secrets of people close to her. The secrets are so horrify...

Hoichoi is a channel that takes out Bengali web series and films and the translated versions of the same are available in MX Player. All the series which the channel has released till now has different storylines and targets all kinds of audiences. The recent offering by Hoichoi is Moh Maya Season 2. The first season of the series focused on how love becomes an obsession for a boy called Rishi and he tries to influence Aruna, the lady in whose house he is staying as a PG so that she only focuses all his attention on him. World Food Safety Day: A day to understand the safety norms related to food

One needs to be very careful when it comes to food and its safety. This is because the spread of COVID 19 had led people to take more precautions about the food they are consuming. It has become very important to understand the types of chemicals and fertilizers used in food so that our health is not harmed in any manner.  There are a variety of foods for which different chemicals have been used and they are not very good for the human body. The main focus of World Food Safety Day is to make people aware of how you can understand whether the food item you consume is safe for you or not and how can you buy safe food items.  On this day, let us try to consume the food which is safe in nature or make them safe by washing them properly with water and peeling them if required before consumption so that fewer chemicals are consumed on regular basis.

The Family Man Season 2: A befitting sequel to one of the best series on web

It is always a tedious task to make a sequel of something which has already a landmark in a field. The Family Man, when it came out on Amazon Prime, it was appreciated by people for its outstanding content.  The series has its second season streaming on Amazon prime and we do not find any disconnect between the two seasons. Both the seasons have been interested well and the cast is remarkable which makes the series all the more a great watch.  The series has a lot of Tamil dialects but nowhere it feels that the language cannot be understood. The subtitles are easy which makes us understand the language easily. There are many heartbreaking moments, funny moments and different moments which makes the series worth a watch.  The cast, crew, dialogues, writing and everything have been done perfectly. Every character has been given equal importance and Samantha Akkineni shines in her debut series. Overall it can prove to be an ideal binge-watch this weekend.

World Environment Day: A day to take care of the environment as a whole

Environment comprises everything as a whole including flora and fauna. All of us need to protect our environment to survive. As we all know in recent times, mankind has destroyed forests and hunted animals for their mere pleasure.  It is indeed a difficult situation in front of us as man-made destruction has already started playing havoc in some parts of the world. It is very important to preserve and conserve our environment so that we can have a healthy and happy environment. We can plant trees wherever we feel fit so that the green cover across the world increases and care for these trees like our own kids as they are equally important for all of us.

Broken but Beautiful Season 3: A series which shows the consequences of love

Love is not only a word but an emotion that should be felt via heart. At times, we understand attraction and lust to be love and lose ourselves to it. At times, we become adamant about getting married or loving a person who does not even love us back.  Broken but Beautiful Season 3 is the continuation of a series related to heartbreaks with two new characters Agastya and Rumi who are completely different in class and colours but can understand each other in a manner no one can do.  Their attachment leads them to their deathbeds as Rumi is selfish for Ishaan, a guy she has loved since childhood and is with Agastya so that she can get Ishaan. On the other hand, Agastya is a headstrong guy who does not believe in love or marriage but falls hard for Rumi despite knowing she wants Ishaan.  Agastya and Rumi's love becomes poison for both of them as they can neither live together nor die together with such kind of love. Their off and on relationship bring destruction to them as ...

Maharani: A web series which has shown Rabri Devi to be a pseudo intellectual

Sony Liv has released a new web series called Maharani which is said to be based on the lives of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. However, this series has faced a lot of backlash and criticism because it has shown how Rabri worked for Bihar but the people of Bihar say that this series is cleaning the image of Rabri Devi.  The series shows how an illiterate lady who has no interest at all in politics and is happy with the normal life she is leading. She is relieved when her husband says that he will resign from the post of Bihar CM as he is shot.  Little did she know that she will be made the CM of Bihar as Bhima, her husband is unable to discharge his duties as a CM. At first, she is very reluctant to go to the CM office as she is underconfident and cannot speak fluently. She slowly gains confidence when people understand the work she is doing and she becomes the favourite of the Bihar people and ultimately gains their trust. However, the series is faulty on many grounds. Fir...

International Sex Workers Day: A day to recognize all the sex workers

It has been said since olden times that prostitution is not a good profession and all the prostitutes are looked at from very bad eyes. They do not get respect in society and if they ever try to progress they are discouraged by the norms of society.  It is very important that not all sex workers do their profession with their hearts. They are pushed into doing so and when they realize that they do not have anything to do they are forced to continue with their current profession.  On this day, let us support, recognize and honour all those sex workers who are trying to work towards the welfare of the country or trying to help the ladies like them progress towards prosperity and happiness.

World Milk Day: A day to celebrate the importance of milk as global food

The day was established by Food and Agricultural Organization a UN organization in 2001 so that people recognize the importance of milk as a global food. It also celebrates the dairy sector.  The benefits of dairy products and milk have been actively campaigned all across the world and the dairy sector supports the livelihood of around one billion people worldwide.  This year the theme of World Milk Day will be focusing on Sustainability in the dairy sector with messages across the environment, socio-economics and environment. This will help to re-introduce dairy farming to the world.  There are videos of farmers and other people across the world who have embraced technology so that fewer carbon emissions occur across the dairy sector.
