National Weatherman's Day or National Weatherperson's Day is a day celebrated in the United States of America. It recognizes the efforts of people in the fields of meteorology, weather forecasting, broadcast meteorology along with volunteer storm spotters and observers.
The day is celebrated on the birthday of John Jeffries, the first weather observer of the United States who took the first balloon flight over London in 1784 to collect data for the scientific study of air at high altitudes.
Predicting the weather is perhaps one of the most difficult and daunting tasks even for a meteorologist as he has to predict Mother Nature which is very unstable and fluctuating as the weather in the atmosphere can change any time without any warning.
On this day, the least we can do is to understand and appreciate the efforts of the weatherman as they take a lot of pain in giving us weather predictions on regular basis.
