World Braille Day is celebrated on the day when Louis Braille was born. Louis was the inventor of Braille. He was born in 1809 in France and became blind after a childhood accident. He quickly commanded on the way of living.
Braille was 15 years old when he started a reading and writing system based on Barbier's night writing system. Louis's system is today known as Braille. Braille is now easy to read and understand all across the world.
The day is a reminder of the importance of independence and accessibility to those who are visually impaired. Many organizations do not offer braille scripts to people which makes it difficult for them to go there and purchase something.
The day also spreads awareness about Braille and other forms of communication. Everybody in this world deserves to have the same accommodation and service without judging their ability. On World Braille Day, one should make their services accessible to everyone.
