German Unity Day: A Pride for those living in Germany


Everyone in this world wants to be independent and free without any kind of interference from outside. Similarly, German Unity Day is celebrated to commemorate the reunification different German republics to form a single state. 

The day is a national holiday in the country and it is celebrated by fireworks, festivals and ceremonies. It is a big day for people and gives them immense pleasure and satisfaction as they feel free and liberated. 

Thus, on German Unity Day I would like to wish each and every citizen of Germany a very happy Unity Day and hoping that the country prosperes each day.

    I have a long experience of travelling into both parts of divided Germany.
    The German Democratic Republic (East German)
    The Federal Republic of Germany ( West Germany)
    They were two different worlds for a traveller like me.
    The living conditions of FRG were much better than GDR.
    But I may tell with my experience that the Germans in the GDR were feeling much secure if not affluent. However, they wanted to come and live in FRG.
    The change in life within the divided city of Berlin could very much be felt when you crossed over to Eastern part through the gate of Berlin wall. They had very healthy food and secure life at the cost of Government but not the luxuries of west. For a fee of just DM 100 per day, a very charming guide who was also a student was very happy to travel around and live with me in and around the industrial city of Dresden.
    However, their desire to be one Germany was so strong that they demolished the Berlin wall with their hammers and shovels.
    In India International Trade Fair in New Delhi, the German Democratic Republic had booked Hall No. 8 for themselves but due to unification of Germany, they cancelled the Hall and merged their exhibition with the Hall of Federal Republic of Germany.
    I extend my greetings to my German Friends, who are still my business associates as well.

Malaika Arora's father commits suicide, investigation continues

  In a shocking turn of events, actor Malaika Arora's father Anil Arora has committed suicide. He jumped from his apartment building in Bandra around 9 in the morning. Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor and Ananya Panday have also visited her residence for the last rites.  Malaika Arora's ex-husband, Arbaaz Khan, also visited her with brother Sohail, sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and parents Salim and Salma Khan. Malaika and Arbaaz separated in 2017 but continued to co-parent Arhaan, their son. The police are still investigating the cause of death.  Malaika's parents got divorced during her childhood. The reason for the suicide remains unclear as no suicide note has been recovered and the body has been sent for post-mortem. Malaika was not in Mumbai when the news of the suicide came out. She rushed back from Pune after hearing the news.
